Chrysler recently announced that it will soon be finishing construction on a brand new 425,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Sterling Heights, MI adjacent to its current manufacturing plant. This is a big deal not only to the American economy and for jobs in the area, but also because it is the first new manufacturing facility the auto maker has built in over 20 years.

And come to think it was only a few years ago that the auto industry was suffering due to the recession, if you ask us here at Bergeron Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Mopar SRT we'd say this sounds like things are recovering nicely. Especially when you consider that the plant it was constructed next to was supposed to shut its doors in 2010.

We know that the Chrysler 200 and the Dodge Avenger are built in the Sterling plant, but there is no word on what vehicles will be produced in the new facility.

The plant will create 450 jobs in the area, and we'll be sure to follow along and report any updates on what new Chrysler models will be produced at the facility.

Until then, stop by 3525 Veterans Memorial Blvd in Metairie to see any of the luxurious Chrysler cars like the 300, 300C and 300 SRT, or the Town and Country. We look forward to seeing you.
