What is a Cabin Air Filter?
The cabin air filter is most often located in the dash of your car and can be accessed through the glove compartment. This small filter cycles all the air that comes into the car through it to remove any pollen, allergens, or even nasty smells from the air so that the air inside the cabin of your car is clean and fresh and safe to breathe. As the filter gets dirty and as air filters through it might start to smell or put off an odor and you may notice more dust or eye and throat irritation when you are driving. You can change this filter out to help make sure that the air entering the car is clean, that it smells great, and that there are no issues with the air causing eye irritation or breathing problems.
Cabin Air Filter Replacement Interval
This is a filter that gets dirty entirely based on use. If you are not driving that often or you do not use your vents that often it may stay clean longer and you may only need to change it once or twice a year. For those that drive often in the city however you may need to change your cabin air filter as often as every two or three months. You can check on your filter and see if it needs to be changed by giving it a visual inspection. Filters that are new are going to be white and they are going to be free of dust and other particulates. As filter ages and is used it is going to become grey or dirty looking. If you start to smell strange smells or your car smells musty you may need to schedule a cabin air filter replacement.
